Well, I finally have my computer up and running again. That has been a contributing factor to my absence in the blog world. My two month new computer just turned off one night and didn't turn on again! While it's nice that it is still under warranty... it sure isn't cheap to mail a computer to Texas from the West Coast.
Life has just been plugging along. I can't believe that the school year is now officially 1/2 over. I really have nothing but great memories so far. The next month promises to be very busy. We're having a sleep-over with the entire 6th grade one weekend. Another weekend I'll be heading out of town to a teachers conference. I've also been doing additional training the last 3 weeks, so my brain is almost at maximum capacity :)
Declan is still loving school. His reading is just improving every day. Well, maybe every week.
Today we were watching an episode of Planet Earth. They were talking about a coniferous forest that makes up 1/3 of the worlds tree population and remarked that it supplies oxygen for the entire planet. Declan was amazed:
" Wow! That place must be important." (the things they say)
I have to admit that the quality of my T.V. watching has improved greatly with a youngster in the house.
I also recently watched the documentary Imagine about John Lenn*n. For some reason, I've been very stuck on the utterly messed up way he treated his first son Julian. I can't even image what it was like growing up. For starters I'm sure he hates "Beautiful B*y" (although it is such a beautiful song). Interestingly Sean Lenn*n has this to say:
"I think of my dad as a huge asshole. The only thing that made it okay was that he could admit it."
On the bright side, Julian was definitely blessed with his fathers talent. I encourage you to download "Saltwater", you won't be disappointed!
Boy, this blog entry was all over the place :)
