The Journey

I love you Craig!

Craigslist is just the best. Today I purchased the V Smile and the V Smile Pocket for my son, plus THREE games for a total of 45.00. Okay it also cost me 1.5 hours of my life and 3 gallons of gas, but that is still such a deal!!

I love video games, as does my son. We (O.K. I haven't really let Declan play them yet, so I guess they are really mine) have a PS2 and XBox, and Nintendo 64 and we each have a GameBoy Advance SP (Declan watches videos on his GBA) . Before I really turn him loose with the games, I thought I'd buy him a system that has EDUCATIONAL games. I will feel much better about that.

Some of you are probably thinking you can't believe my son hasn't played games yet...well that has been very diliberate on my part. I have to admit I'm a little (lot) selfish regarding this issue, because I love that we can sit and do this activitie together. By that I mean I play and Declan watches, intently cheering me on and giving me stratigical advice. We have been doing this since he was 1, and he would wake up saying "Abe, Abe" first thing in the morning, begging me to play Muches Odysessy on the XBox. Once he gets his own system, I don't think he'll have much interest in watching me anymore.

I can't wait until Declan gets back from his weekend with my X and gets to try out his new system....(I'll save the portable system for his B-day). We're going to the beach for 3 nights over spring break...but we're bringing the V Smile!

  • I'm totally with you on delaying the video games as long as possible. I figure sooner or later my life could be taken over by them, so why bring it on yet? I can already tell just by the free online games we play at Sesame Workshop, Chateau Meddybemps, etc., that this boy could easily become a junkie.

Good deal on the Craiglist stuff. Declan's going to get your gas tank's worth in no time.

  • Yeah, I am still really one the fence about the video game thing. My brothers played them NONSTOP growing up and now they both have the social ettiquette of two-toed sloth.

Although....paxton sure loves his leapfrog game. I guess there's not much difference.
